For our client we are currently looking for a Senior Platform Engineer Garden Linux | KVM Virtualization | Gardener Kubernetes (m/f/d) (m/f/d) - Remote(working in Asian Pacific Timezone MESZ +6-7 hours).

Your tasks

    • Configure, deploy, and maintain Garden Linux environments, including troubleshooting OS-level, kernel, and package-related issues
    • Debug custom Garden Linux image builds and analyze runtime behavior, including performance tuning and system hardening recommendations
    • Configure and integrate KVM-based virtualization stacks (Cloud Hypervisor, QEMU, Libvirt)
    • Analyze and resolve hypervisor- and VM-level issues, including compute, networking, and storage performance bottlenecks
    • Debug and optimize Cloud Hypervisor and Libvirt configurations
    • Troubleshoot Gardener Kubernetes control plane and shoot cluster incidents
    • Perform root cause analysis for failures related to provisioning, scaling, and cluster upgrades
    • Review and optimize configurations across Gardener, Garden Linux and KVM-based nodes to ensure seamless integration
    • Create technical deliverables including incident reports, RCA documentation, configuration reviews, best practices, and knowledge transfer sessions

Your qualifications

    • In-depth expertise in Debian-based Linux systems, including kernel configuration, systems and package management
    • Hands-on experience with Garden Linux image customization and build pipelines, including CI/CD integration
    • Strong skills in OS hardening and debugging (boot, performance, kernel-level issues)
    • Advanced understanding of KVM, QEMU, Libvirt, and Cloud Hypervisor architectures
    • Deep knowledge of virtualization networking (bridging, VLANs, SDN) and storage (e.g., NFS)
    • Understanding of hardware virtualization concepts (e.g., NUMA alignment) and host performance tuning
    • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Golang, Python, Bash)
    • Expert knowledge of Kubernetes internals and hands-on experience with Gardener (shoot/seed clusters, lifecycle management)
    • Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus and Perses, as well as experience in root cause analysis and post-mortems
